Oil on canvas, 48 x 60 inches with a walnut floating frame

Exhibited: Saks Galleries, Denver

About this oil:
There are many visual clues that make up a forest: tree trunks, leaves, twigs and more. For this oil, I set out to use just a few those visual clues to create a spacious, calming forest scene.

Left out is the natural litter of twigs and tree trunks on the forest floor as well as the typical density of scrub and closely placed tree trunks.

What remains is this airy forest populated with thin, elegant trees, little foliage and bordered at the back by a wall of color.

The pond creates even more space, allowing for an infusion of light, increased depth and an array of color.

It was a pleasure to create this piece and walk among those trees for a time.
