About this oil:
This is a motif I have used before and for this oil a shift was made to a very soft palette and lighting. Once it was sketched in, the painting began to look like a wooded scene with the sunlight hidden behind the background forest wall. It’s one of those pink mornings but the light hasn’t found its way into the lower creek yet, only the faintest glow is emerging.
 
Spring is just arriving with the new greens and a sparse amount of foliage. The combination of the pale greens and coral pinks created a nice puzzle that required more help from the shades of aqua, purple and yellow. 
 
Without a direct source of light, this painting is dependent on the composition, color combinations and the glowing effects throughout the canvas. It required a lot of “tuning” to keep everything in balance and in the end, it is one of the softer pieces I have ever painted.
