Exhibited: Sorelle Gallery, Westport, Connecticut
Private collection
Thank you to the collectors of this oil and to the Sorelle Gallery.
About this oil:
This predominately blue and purple forest came from the idea to set up a simple composition, the line of trees, and then to use color and light effects to create a deep view into the forest.
As it turns out, it was quite the challenge but I love working with color and it provided me with more than enough patience to bring this oil to completion… 3 times. It was the depth that kept calling me back to the “finished” oil.
With each session, new improvements were made to the "finished version" by altering and layering the blues, tree trunks, foliage and finally, the addition of pinks and greens at the top.
I enjoy the complexity of these trees and the play of light and dark contrasts here.
The painting came out better than my original plan and I will happily take a little rest from this one!
