Oil on canvas, 36 x 60 inches

Exhibited: Sorelle Gallery, Westport, Connecticut

My thanks to the collector that purchased this oil.

About this oil:

Golden-yellow trees hold an endless fascination for me and I was eager to begin this oil. This is a light and shadow work, a departure from other paintings where the yellows brightly dominate.

From the start, I wanted the other elements in the scene to shine and glow, with each part in a unique way. The dark notes are critical to this piece and they also have their own radiance and interest. Those deep shadows split the canvas, accentuating the yellows and making them even brighter.

Almost 1/2 of this oil is water and sky, each with unique features and demands. Since I insisted on the theme of light and shadow, the sky and water patterns provide more illumination, movement, and a delicate touch.
