About this oil:
While starting out this composition I let the trees dance… sketching them in and letting them find their place a number of times. It was an unusual way to create this piece but I enjoyed the idea of constantly changing the composition and how the light played throughout.
After a number of sessions and numerous color shifts, the final colors fell into place and the last decision centered on how much contrast to go with: how bright the yellows and how dark the trees.
After a number of sessions in the studio, it was almost finished. But that had to wait for another shift of the tree arrangement, it’s as if the trees had a life of their own, insisting on just one more move.
During the process, a contrast solution presented itself, to set up a soft focus that would allow the background light to flow through the forest and illuminate the entire composition in a satisfying way.
