About this oil:
This oil was approached as a sketch in that it was drawn in with a black brush and a few color accents to set up the foreground and two back layers.
 
From there, the foliage was added with bright yellows along with green and orange accents. The original, black brush marks were allowed to come through, creating depth and density. 
 
I really enjoyed how quickly the forest came to life and the vibrancy of it all.
 
The field below still needed a bit of something more instead of the black marks for shadows. So, I tried an unusual purple and once applied, it created a soft glow in the bottom left that held its own against the bright trees.
 
That’s when the entire oil came together and became something magical.
